Body prep
Headlight mechanism I am making the assumption that the kit was originally assembled completely wrong. These photos show some of the problems I have to deal with. Holes are drilled all over the place. Some of them are used, some aren't. One of the biggest offenders is the hole that the headlight shaft goes through....
Headlight assembly error It appears that the hole was drilled in the wrong place so a chunk of plywood was screwed over the hole and then re-drilled. This leaves a lot of exposed wood to rot. My plan is to open these holes up as needed to get to clean wood, plug them with wood and epoxy adhesive, and glass them over for a clean start.
Oversized hole
GTII body without roof
Assembly stand I also have some structural work that I need to do so I decided it would be best to have a stand that would support the body in the same manner as the bug chassis. I was concerned that if I propped it up on saw horses like the manual calls for it would pre-stress the body in a direction which is different than when on the chassis.
